Our Teeth Whitening Treatment Overview

Teeth whitening treatments have become increasingly popular during the last years. There are several numbers of reason why many are choosing to whiten their teeth. Some of the reasons are because of an upcoming event, a job interview, aging, to boost self-confident, or tooth discoloration. Whatever your reason might be, our dentist will provide you with several treatment options, so visit us to determine which one would be great for you.

Laser

Laser teeth whitening is administered in a dental office exclusively, and is the most expensive method for whitening. All forms of teeth whitening work by releasing oxygen ions from a tooth whitening gel, which gently lift stains from the teeth. The laser simply lifts the stains faster. Another advantage of the laser is that (depending on the type of laser used) it can more easily be used to bleach one tooth at a time. This is helpful when one tooth is more discolored than the surrounding teeth.

Opalescence™

Opalescence™ is a chemically activated power whitening gel that provides brighter, whiter teeth after just 40 minutes in the dental chair. The safe, powerful 40% hydrogen peroxide gel is chemically activated, doesn’t require a hot, uncomfortable light to work, and usually takes only one dental visit to achieve desired results.

Take Home Trays

Take-home whitening trays are a type of teeth whitening procedure that you can perform at the comfort of your home. This is an easy and cost-effective teeth whitening treatment that can be easily obtained. You must follow the instructions given by our dentist to see the results at home. Although they can be a convenient option, obtaining great results can take longer than other treatments and they don’t always work well for deep stains. These trays are custom made to go over your teeth, and whiten your teeth through a special gel that is found on the inside of the trays.

Theses trays, once made for you, can then be taken home as a teeth whitening kit, along with the guidelines given by our dentist. The time that they must remain on your teeth can vary according to your teeth whitening needs.

How Take-home Whitening Trays Work

Custom whitening trays are trays that are clear and are usually made of a clear plastic that comfortably adjust when inserted. A small dollop of gel is inserted in each tray, giving them their whitening properties. The gel consists of a hydrogen peroxide solution that actively whitens the enamel of the teeth.

After they have been used and are taken off, they need to be cleaned with a Q-tip or a cloth and rinsed. This makes them ready to be used again. It is not suggested to use them for at least another day, after each application.

These whitening trays can be used several times to obtain the desired results. Our dentist can further advice on how many times they should be used in your case. Also, you can have them customize to you needs.

Zoom!

The Zoom in-office tooth whitening procedure uses the Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp to activate the 25 percent hydrogen peroxide whitening gel and accelerate the bleaching process. The Zoom bleaching process lightens discolored enamel and eliminates stains while leaving the structure of your teeth intact and unchanged.

Important: While the teeth whitening procedures mentioned in this article certainly work and have been proven to be effective, they are meant to accompany a good oral hygiene regime. It is very important to always maintain proper oral hygiene. This not only helps you get naturally whiter teeth over time, but it also maintains the results of your teeth whitening treatment and prevents stains from developing or darkening.
